Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare Supplements
Medicare, Medicaid & Medicare Supplements presents the history, purpose, and principles of social insurance, with focus on Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicare Supplement insurance. In each of these programs, the areas of eligibility, enrollment, benefits, deductibles, and co-payments are analyzed in detail. This course also includes a chapter on the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement an Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA 2003). Upon conclusion of this course, the student will be able to:
- discuss the history and purpose of Medicare, Medicaid, and MedSupp, and understand the eligibility for each of these programs;
- understand the mechanics of Medicare Part A and Part B and how they relate to each other;
- explain the relationship of Medicaid and Medicare and how they work together to provide medical coverage for eligible Americans;
- describe how MedSupp policies cover medical expenses that Medicare and Medicaid do not cover; and
- identify the components and additional benefits of the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA).
